Located on the campus of one of New England’s oldest independent schools, this science facility is the first of three planned phases of construction for Derby Academy. The campus plan was used to conduct a successful capital campaign, and raised sufficient funds to begin construction.

Based on OLD&D’s master plan and program recommendations, the design team created a much-needed science center for the school. Primarily serving Middle and Upper School students, the space offers a state-of-the-art science gallery for hands-on learning experiences.

By utilizing the existing resources, the project expanded and re-purposed a former dining hall and library. The gabled entrance provides a visible presence on campus, and the new science center creates a visual axis that ties the lower and upper schools together.
